We understand that seeking therapy and/or finding a new therapist can be a confusing, overwhelming, or even scary process, so give yourself credit for getting this far! It is important that you feel comfortable and safe with your therapist, and that you choose someone who you think you might work well with. Alexandria Therapy might be a good fit for you if you:
- Are a survivor of trauma of any kind
- Have gone through something that continues to impact you negatively today
- Struggle with feelings of worthlessness, low self-esteem, and powerlessness
- Find yourself stuck in unhealthy or unhelpful patterns in your life (relationships, substance use, sexual behaviors, compulsive behaviors, criminal offending, etc.)
- Feel as though you are undeserving of love or happiness
- Experience anxiety, nervousness, difficulty concentrating, feelings of dread, panic, or fear
- Behave in ways that don't reflect your morals or values, but don't know how to change
- Deal with shame and guilt about who you are, or things you have done or experienced
- Are worried about your sexual interests or behaviors
- Need non-judgmental and supportive listening and feedback to work through life's challenges
- Would like to develop greater self-love and self-acceptance
- Want to develop a greater understanding of yourself and learn how to cope with difficulties in a healthy way
